What’s the opposite of “fake news”? What can people do/create that squashes “fake news” at its core so that it doesn’t even become part of the conversation?
We extract from nature, compete with one another, and pursue short-term gains. In contrast, Seva operates within a regenerative paradigm. It calls us to design systems that are collaborative, life-affirming, and grounded in care.
Anything Tristan puts out, we should all take note.
How can design get in front of misinformation? How is design contributing to misinformation? How can design uplift personal stories that cut through the misinformation—stories that resonate with the right people?
Damn, PBS. Not one question on how trees are a carbon sink and if we cut them down, we will lose that sink and release so much stored carbon back into the atmosphere.
Now apply all of this to climate news and events. This will not end well for so many people.
The AI boom has taken off at a awkward time for the fight against climate change. Global temperatures are already rising much faster than scientists expected. And now, AI and the International Energy Agency has said AI is contributing to a massive increase in power demand, which itself is contributing to an increase in emissions because the problem is, we haven't decarbonized our grids yet.
The Blackfoot understood human needs not as rungs to ascend one by one, but as the interconnected poles of a tipi stretching upward together. What others might call self-actualization formed the sturdy base that held up the entire structure of human flourishing.
When will we get into the habit of always thinking about, investing in, and building natural solutions first?
