“Needing to have reality confirmed and experience enhanced by photographs
is an aesthetic consumerism to which everyone is now addicted.”
— Susan Sontag, On Photography
Photographs, she argued, are rarely innocent: they turn experience into an object that can be owned, a world to be collected.
Something to think about in social contexts, in particular at social events such as social dances - are people coming to experience and connect vs consume and own.
« We are writing our story from the beginning from that moment in time. Tranquility comes with anonymity, the ability to write our story every time we meet someone new. When you are known you loose the ability to rewrite or tell from a different perspective, you are owned by the word. » Trevor Noah

Creating supperintelligence is contrary to improving their quality of life. BUT their is a race between nations, so it becomes about delaying the time taken to make it. We have to appeal to personal self interest to encourage those capable of creating these technologies that it is not an ideal outcome.
