“Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men, because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does” (6:7 – 8).

When God gave us all things that pertain to life and godliness, He told us the same thing. We are no longer servants, who need to be told what to do each day. We are friends, adults in faith, trusted with the principles needed to live as God would live in this world.

Remember, the pastor’s biggest problem is himself. “Be sober-minded,” Peter commands, “be watchful.” Paul instructs the young Timothy: “Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. The gift God has for us as stewards of our relationship with him is the precious gift of intimacy.

Our worth isn’t wrapped up in what we achieve and accomplish, although we always seek to do our best. Our net worth is forever anchored in the fact that Jesus was given for us.
