In the Buddhist tradition the analogy of the sun appearing from behind the clouds is often used to explain the discovery of enlightenment.

Self-illumination occurs as we let our contemplation wander freely through our life until it alights on something numinous, something that resonates very deeply inside us.

And what is your work to do right now with this purpose of being love? Your work is to shine light and receive light. It is not just “anchoring” the light, as we have already mentioned. It is not just passively letting the light come in. This is a much more engaged process than that and a much more accelerated expression of light.

Light not only warms, of course, but illuminates both things we want to see and don’t want to see.

The highest goal of the art of contemplation is ultimately to reveal this inner light.
