But names and appearances are essentially ungraspable and ultimately unknowable. What is not affected by anything and what transcends mistaken projections, this is what is meant by suchness. What is real, true, certain, ultimate, self-existent, and ungraspable,58 these are the characteristics of suchness.

the quality the Zen Buddhists deal with is the essence of completeness—that to be completely here and now is to see the true nature of things. This is what we call the aspect of Brilliancy, and what Zen people call the Buddha nature.

The true practice of zazen is to sit as if drinking water when you are thirsty. There you have naturalness. It is quite natural for you to take a nap when you are very sleepy.
