rather than being inspired by these objects and ideas - early fandom, chat spaces to discuss other media - modern media consumes itself. it’s that snake going around and around. needing to go vomit something out but just remaking itself into a new shinier scarier version of itself. attention economy means thinking is discouraged
the positive side - curation and insulation into community. if you carve your own corner of the internet it can be a little chamber of growth. oppositely it can be an echo of yes men that lead to violence
