I recently re-watched The Forsyte Saga (Damian Lewis version) which inspired me to read the book. I’m part way through and enjoying the additional details and more in depth back story. It’s a long book so I can immerse myself in it.
At the end of watching the series, I felt sorry for Soames Forsyte. Despite his failings and character, he found some form of redemption. He despatched some of his demons. I wonder if I will feel the same way about him as I read the book.
Austen read William Shakespeare, John Milton, Daniel Defoe, and Samuel Richardson, all authors I had read. She also read Frances Burney, Ann Radcliffe, Charlotte Lennox, Hannah More, Charlotte Smith, Elizabeth Inchbald, Hester Piozzi, and Maria Edgeworth, all authors I hadn’t.

I love books that take me down rabbit holes. I hadn’t considered before the writing that might have inspired Jane Austen. This book details what she read - and some of it is still available. It adds another layer to the Austen story.
