beginnings always hide themselves in ends
We’re programmed to want to feel as if our existence is important, even essential. For millions of years, it likely would have been. But in the modern West, how often do we feel indispensable?
Algorithmic anxiety - the algorithm takes note of everything we click, even the accidental clicks, the clicks on stuff we’re not interested in but want to see how something is discussed. The algorithm sees all even when we don’t want it to.
In the good old days, you had to pursue knowledge. Now knowledge pursues you.
This is why we’re overwhelmed. We used to research topics of interest, now everything is laid on a platter before us.
