Loneliness is one of the most painful yet necessary experiences in life. People feel incomplete, empty, or even starvinginside. It is also a strong motivating force, just as food hunger is.
The ‘mental health plague’ in capitalist societies would suggest that, instead of being the only social system that works, capitalism is inherently dysfunctional, and that the cost of it appearing to work is very high.
Solitude can be a profound teacher. It can teach us how to hold ourselves—how to affirm ourselves and listen. How much is the sound of your own voice worth?
