Our relationship with information evolves through four distinct phases, which I call The Four C’s. Each phase has its own purpose and challenges.

Consuming: This is where most of us begin. You’re reading books, scrolling social media, or watching videos—but not saving anything or applying what you learn. Eventually, you might realize that simply consuming isn’t enough.
Collecting: In this phase, you start saving the “good stuff.” Maybe you’re bookmarking articles or taking notes. But soon, you notice that all this saving doesn’t automatically lead to meaningful results.
Curating: Here, you’re refining what you’ve collected. You select the best ideas, distill them, and focus on what truly matters. Yet, even this phase can feel incomplete. At some point, you might feel ready to move beyond working with others’ ideas.
Creating: In the final phase, you take what you’ve learned and turn it into something new—whether it’s writing, videos, or a creative project. This is where the magic happens.

Interestingly, these phases aren’t always linear. You might cycle through them depending on the season, your energy, or even the scope of a specific project. For instance, winter might be your “consuming and collecting” time, while spring inspires you to curate and create.

Here’s the big question: What phase are you in right now? What’s no longer working for you? If you’re feeling stuck, it might be time to experiment with moving to the next phase.

Start small—try saving a single highlight, distilling a key takeaway, or creating a quick post to share your insights.

Growth comes from recognizing where you are and taking one intentional step forward. So, where will you go next?
