There is nothing more interesting or exciting than exciting curious naive and genuinely motivated people. Use that lack of information that lack of experiences to power forward and do things. People will look at you favourably.
There are also people who are para-academic researchers. While there’s a lot of great computer science and human-computer interaction research happening in academia, I’ve often been disappointed by some of the actual interfaces being produced by the ivory tower. Some of the most interesting work seems to be happening outside academia.

I think it’s generally human nature to overestimate risk and overestimate opportunity. And I think people in general would be well advised to try to bias against that piece of human nature. One of my great joys is that my son Dev wants to build worlds and approaches almost everything through the lens of “Will this help me build a world?” I can see the question opening up places in his mind. My job now is to protect that question-led curiosity at all costs.
