One of the many things I learned from @gentry about design is the idea of *informed simplicity*

So many good examples of flows/products that become way more usable by removing steps. E.g. OCRing a photo you took using some 3rd party app vs. just selecting the text inside Apple's photos. I use the latter now multiple times a week and “all it did” was reduce steps. [1/3]

to make the thing is to make its impact, its memory, the product of its extended use, its legacy, and its language. "Good Design", such that it might exist, is the art of building this phantom value in the future from the most minimal physical compromise in the present.
