Really resonated with this talk. Using the art of coding as a basis, Bret talks about his life principle around ideas.
Here are some meditations:
Ideas start small and fragile.
Ideas need to be shaped.
Ideas should be tried as they are being thought.
Ideas need an environment where they can freely grow.
Creators should not be blind to what they are doing.
They should receive feedback from the idea itself.
See its reaction to their action.
Feel like Rick Rubin and Steve Jobs would dig Bret's ideas about ideas.
You may think that if your studio is tidy, it will free you up to be more efficient, and therefore, you will produce more. Maybe that will help you in the execution stage of your work if you’re, say, a printmaker pulling prints, but it won’t help you come up with an interesting design for the next print. I've watched a few videos on these cards and I think they'd be incredibly useful for lots of tasks. They really help with getting you to think in new ways. Right now, the storytelling one is probably most useful to me.
