While large language models have some positive uses for creative writing, such as generating small projects or parts of larger projects, they are not a replacement for human creativity and require careful prompt engineering to produce useful output.
The key to preserving what's valuable is to emphasize the embodied process of writing, which connects us to our humanity, and to spend time honoring what is not machine-like in us.
If you start your process at the problem instead of at a proposed solution, you will be able to explore a broader creative space and find solutions that are hiding where no one else is looking.
