Burnout

I once realized how burnt out I was when I dropped a cupcake on the floor and started crying because eating it was the one thing I was looking forward to. Don’t wait for your cupcake moment. By then it will take very long to get back.

“Burnout” is a particularly modern affliction, feeling simultaneously overwhelmed and paralyzed. I’ve found it’s best to think of burnout not as a disease but as a symptom, with many different etiologies. The big three: permanent on-call, broken steering, and mission doubt.

The worst thing you can do with burnout is to try and fight it. Take a break. Come back. It'll all still be there.
