Tree of Souls

The biggest, oldest standing ones in the forest are called mother trees, and they send extra nutrients across mycorrhizal networks running through the soil to the young saplings that need it most.⁠

Plants are born in the darkness of the earth, which is the realm of the ancestors. But they reach up toward the heavens and call down the divine energy of the sun. They bind the realms together.

it could be Yggdrasil, the World Tree, with its roots in the underworld and crown in the world above.

Sacred beasts. They lived in the branches of the ancestral trees, feeding on leftovers and the occasional spirit-fruit the tree produced. In return, they helped defend their tree against rivals.
