RACI Responsible vs. Accountable—Key Concepts Defined
RACI (pronounced “racy”). Each letter stands for how someone relates to a project: responsible for doing the work, accountable for the success of the work, needs to be consulted on the work, and needs to be informed on the status of the work.
Each cell within the organization must have someone clearly accountable for it. This doesn’t mean the person is boss and/or gets to make all the decisions. In fact, it’s important to delineate the differences between accountability, responsibility, and authority.
