What does knowledge accomplish anyway if not paired with function, with actually doing something? Nothing. It sits in your mind/heart and festers, it puffs up…oh wait! that’s in the scripture: I Corinthians 8:1b We know that “We all possess knowledge.” But knowledge puffs up while love builds up.

Words in Hebrew are about identifying something by what it does, its action, not by its appearance. In a sense, even nouns in Hebrew are verbs. For example, “the Hebrew word for father is אב (av) and literally means ‘the one who gives strength to the family’ and mother אם (em) means ‘the one that binds the family together’.”7
