Good use of attention up the chain of society is rewarded. Bad use of it is punished. This system creates “sustainable marketing pathways”, a kind of information highway.
How do we bootstrap the Open Research Institute?
The problem with this system is that it can be self-referential and lead to people who are trying to use attention well not being able to capture enough attention to bring resources to fix a large problem. We need better recognition systems instead of self-reporting ones.
