This is definitely the ugly side of place like YouTube. There are so many YouTubers who become successful by telling others how to succeed at YouTube, but all they can suggest is is for other to follow their path and do the same.
What makes “creator” so galling is that it has been deliberately adopted by an entire cohort of internet users.

I sympathy with this feeling. I also feel that the author misses mentioning that the term "creator" rose in popularity in direct response to criticism similar to this directed at the word "artist." People chose the term "creator" to avoid the accusations of pretentiousness that became popular.
