Wallflower Girl

I was widely respected and liked. I could float among the groups with ease, could stick up for anyone at will (and usually did). But I never belonged to anything in particular, and that is true of all floaters. Also, those girls that do stick by their principles and behave admirably during junior high school are respected, but generally shunned. I

because of that I felt a kind of loneliness new to me, as if I were the only one here who was not truly part of the scene.

a part of me had still ached. Could feel that I was standing outside of things, waiting for the moment I would finally become a part of it.

my brother was off somewhere being a normal teenager having girlfriends or going to parties or whatever it is that normal teenagers do. I wouldn’t know. I was an indoor cat.
