dal pensiero del filosofo john mbiti: nella cultura africana il futuro non esiste perché il tempo è fatto di eventi e non può passare se non ne facciamo esperienza, altrimenti non è reale, quindi è sempre o passato o presente. infatti le lingue africane non hanno la parola per “futuro”. “people produce as much time as they need”. in occidente il tempo è una commodity, può essere speso, perso. in africa non si perde tempo, o si aspetta il tempo o si produce.

the audience is just as important as the artist — the more you read and study the better you’ll understand art! and the artist will be more inspired, in turn the art will be better! after all the artists aren’t necessarily outliers, they participate in society, so it’s better if society as a whole is educated and more people are critical thinkers. that produces not only better art but better people and a better world.

who cares about time frrr like if you always think about the past or the future you’re never going to enjoy the present! if i’m always making plans and trying to have the perfect routine or maximize my productivity or enjoyment i’m never gonna relax. by definition you can’t plan for enjoyment, you just do things and try to enjoy every moment no matter what’s happening because that’s life.

“non serve a niente essere senza speranza” si ricollega al discorso di prima in un certo senso, però critica soprattutto il sistema, e spiega che l’anti-consumerismo e il non comprare in generale sono tattiche che non vanno veramente contro il sistema nel senso che non lo intaccano nel profondo.  andrebbe fatto un lavoro direttamente sul sistema perché a questo livello i singoli possono veramente poco.
