Our first source of data comes from studies of centenarians,

Virtually the entire scientific community agrees: the problem of life’s origin is unsolved.

First, we arose from a single-celled embryo. And second, from that cell came multiple cells—those that populate your body and mine.

What amount of change in biological classification might have resulted from such searing selection? Some of the descendants might have differed from the ancestor in its domain of life or formed a new kingdom, or perhaps a novel phylum, class, or order. Yet none of those appeared.

What’s the issue with all of these claims? The curse of dimensionality. The human genome, scientists now know, differs in millions of ways. There are, quite simply, too many genes to test.
