In the fall of 1945, I began to study chemistry at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem (the only university in Palestine). In Jerusalem, I also took an active part in the Haganah. Man-to-man combat training was conducted in one of the schools in the city, while the police station at the seminary in Beit Hakerem served as a base for rifle training.
