you can find the percent of area up to a point in the normal curve by using the function =NORMSDIST(z), where z is the number of standard deviations (the z-score). For example, a z-score of 1.28 provides the area from negative infinity to 1.28 standard deviations above the mean and accounts for about 90% of the area.
