What we call ego is simply the mechanism our mind uses to resist life as it is. In that way, ego isn’t a thing as much as it is a verb.

On so many levels, interdependence requires being seen, as much as possible, as your true self.

Ego Ideas, beliefs and habits that we associate with “me.” Mix of stuff that clouds our ability to know our true vast and limitless nature. While we may think of ego as arrogance or excessive pride (as in “inflated egos”), the word ego here refers to the pervasive sense of personhood arising from being identified with whatever refers to “me.”

When our sense of self is confined to the prison of the ego’s habits and patterns, that self is, to a great extent, perpetuating its own misery. Rumi described egoism as “an inch-deep river in which we drown.”

We experience that fundamental awareness of our own existence as ‘I am’, but as ego, we mix this awareness ‘I am’ with adjuncts.
