The main idea I want to communicate here is that godliness requires that we discipline ourselves in the practice of evangelism. I’m convinced that the main reason many of us don’t witness for Christ in ways that would be effective and relatively fear-free is simply because we don’t discipline ourselves to do it.

The Christian soldier is to pray at all seasons, and under all circumstances. His praying must be arranged so as to cover his times of peace as well as his hours of active conflict.

“The primary objective of the participation of the church in the mission of God is, as expressed by Christ in his missionary mandate, to make disciples.”

In Christ's teaching, it is not simply works of charity and deeds of mercy upon which he insists, but inward spiritual character.

E. M. Bounds, that legendary nineteenth-century prophet of prayer, wrote, “The entire man must pray. The whole man—life, heart, temper, mind, are in it . . . it takes a whole heart to do effectual praying.

The greatest good on this earth is God. Period. God’s one goal for us is Himself.

So that what prayer needs, at all times, is abiding and abundant trust.
