But I wonder how often we pray for ourselves. We need hearts that are what and where they should be so we can say all that God has put in front of us. We need to truly love the people to whom we preach. We need to look on the crowd, regardless of its size, and be filled with Christ’s compassion for it.

and you shall know that I am the Lord GOD.

Related to this is a passion to know God and to follow him as the Bible teaches.

Do they love the truth more? Do they love God more? Do they subscribe to sound doctrine, and root their faith in it? Or is their faith based only on little more than sensations, experiences, impressions, and personal feelings? In our work to lift up biblical Christianity in our churches, we must emphasize that the children of God love His truth and

God is directing His people in the way He wants them to go. Often it is not the way we want to go, but as we yield ourselves to God, He opens doors and leads us forward.

I don’t believe God wants our church life to be centered on buildings and services. Instead, God wants our churches—whatever specific forms our gatherings take—to be focused on active discipleship, mission, and the pursuit of unity.

Our pursuit of God is successful just because He is forever seeking to manifest Himself to us. The revelation of God to any man is not God coming from a distance upon a time to pay a brief and momentous visit to the man’s soul. Thus to think of it is to misunderstand it all.
