‍I believe that scaling up personal grantmaking as an individual, group, foundation, and company-sponsored practice holds the power to unlock a new sector of the economy — one that would quickly increase the scale and quality of companies and nonprofits we see founded in the future.

The Internet enabled unprecedented access to celebrities, and the celebrities who have done best on social media are those who have leaned into this access. Influence is no longer about being an elusive star on the red carpet; influence is about being intimately familiar and relatable.

But taken a step further, I believe the future consumer companies won’t just be open platforms. They will be inclusive groups with a deep shared ideology. They will be cults.
