Labor can often be organized more efficiently in the context of community than it can in the context of a corporation.

All that progress didn’t make us a bit happier. I think there’s an important lesson here: if solving a bunch of well-defined problems did not make our predecessors happier, it probably won’t make us happier, either.

The same applies to comparing myself to other people. There are always people who are orders of magnitude more skilled or accomplished, but we're all chipping away together at the infinite pile of work. So it's not about whether I'm better or worse than other people, but about contributing as much as I can:
