1. Two Truths and a Lie

Two Truths and a Lie is a classic icebreaker, perfect for getting to know new colleagues. Each individual shares three pieces of information about themselves—two facts and one lie. The rest of the group has to guess which one is the lie. This game gets everyone talking and sharing interesting tidbits about themselves.

In a 1964 public inquiry into whether the film The Lovers should be banned for its adult content, Supreme Court judge Justice Potter Stewart was asked to define pornography. He replied with the ultimate non-definition:

But I noticed something else: there was long-term satisfaction to be found in my journey. It wasn’t in the attaining but in the becoming.

The process itself, of becoming the kind of person who could make useful things and earn a living doing so, was a joy. As was the process of deepening the craft of exploring or reading or writing.
