... See moreThis is about self-help books. The danger is that readers try to apply something that won’t work because of their unique biography and context. And because of the writer's authority, they may think they are the problem. Ironically, when this happens, the intention of the author of the self-help book backfires!
Self-help, or personal growth or Personal transformation are growing sections in book stores and are perhaps an expression of the focus on self and individualism. Becaus it is self-help, you have to help yourself, it is not: Social Help - doing help with others.
When we pause, we don’t know what will happen next. But by disrupting our habitual behaviors, we open to the possibility of new and creative ways of responding to our wants and fears.
Whenever thoughts are treated too seriously, reality gets forgotten. (Sailor Bob)
