Expectations is a funny word

Expectations are not always positive 

Expectations are different to everyone 

Expectations are what create hurt 

Expectations are how people become friends 

Expectations are how people loose each other 

So, what are your expectations 

Do you set them for yourself 

Or do you set them for other people 

Some would say if you expect

As the cold engulfs me I hear nothing

for the first time in months my head feels empty

not in a heavy melancholy way

more like, relief

as i come up for air i realise that everything that has been bothered me doesn’t matter anymore

or, it doesn’t feel as weighted

i often wonder as to why the salty water has this effect

ive asked others and they have

I shift under the covers, laying on the right side of my bed, clothes laptop and phone on the other side 

I drift to sleep wondering if anyone will ever fill that space like you used to 

No this isn’t about someone in particular but previous partners who have laid in that spot 

Watching me unpack my day 

Chatting 

Holding each other 

Working
