Saying, “Charles was discouraged,” reveals your interpretation of what was going on. But saying, “Every morning Charles crawled out of bed and put his feet on the threadbare carpet, wondering if this would be the day that his life might change,” allows readers to draw their own conclusions.
You need to get this done because it gets in the way of you getting the next thing done. If you can’t see past the end of a particular project, it’s too easy for it to feel bigger and more important than it actually is.
When you’re writing your copy (for whatever product you’re selling), that means simply finding out what the people in your market are looking for - and simply reiterating that yes, your product is EXACTLY that.
