I used references generally speaking, but The first time I really internalized the importance of references was watching Gilmore Girls for the zillionth time.

Recently I’ve been reading about the importance of context in expressing to the reader where in the lattice of human knowledge your thoughts lie. Sort of like a map to you main point.
