There’s a quote that I love from the L. Frank Baum book that we inscribed on the Tin Man’s outfit. We never got a close-up of it, so no one’s ever going to see it, but it was something that stayed with me throughout Wicked . It’s this: “If we walk far enough, we shall sometime come to some place.”

Evolution invented REM sleep, that ministry of dreams, to give us a safe way of practicing the possible into the real. The dreams of the night clarify our lives. The dreams of the day complicate them,
