Another way to increase your curiosity is to indulge it, by investigating things you're interested in. Curiosity is unlike most other appetites in this respect: indulging it tends to increase rather than to sate it. Questions lead to more questions.
What is the highest-growth environment you’ve ever been in? What made it that way?
(growth interpreted broadly: professional, in hobbies, interpersonal, etc)
You should find the candidate confusing at times. If you first see their dysfunction, you should know you have yet to find their genius, and vice versa.
When judging people for leadership positions, or for jobs that require strongly synthetic abilities, you should consider how well they are capable of generating an understanding of context across a broad range of domains, including ex nihilo, so to speak.
