In my 20s I was a very small, big deal.

I got flown to Australia, Brazil, and Norway to sit on music panels.
I never paid for drinks. People paid me to tell them what kind of shoes to wear.
I hosted my my own talk show. I was in the exalted entourage of James Murphy, swapping fashion tips with Mark Ronson.

But I could never break the sound barrier. I never hit escape velocity with enough cash or cache to leave civilian life.

I’d always drift back into being the confidant, the service provider, the plus-one.

Then came the invisible season. Not “poor me, I’m not as famous as Diplo.” More like: I have $37 in my bank account and might die.

The dark night where survival ate myth for breakfast.

That’s how I got healer-pilled.

When you’re alcoholically sick, you join AA. When you’re spiritually sick, you end up in the healing industrial complex.

I did my time there. And now I’m out.

Not a coach. Not a provider.

What happens when you burn off the need to constantly serve and prove and create value?
