Human communication is based on the exchange of social signals that are essentially multimodal. If these signals deviated from expected patterns, this indicated problems in the communication. The pattern of deviation identified the type of problem suggesting how to repair it. 

We may balk at having “personal market caps,” but many of us already do – it is simply denominated in the currency of followers. As social media platforms have increased in importance, the blue-chip entities of this exchange – influencers – have found ways to transmute social capital into financial capital.  

Shifting fashion from a perpetual growth model to a sustainable approach will not be easy. Moving to a post-growth fashion industry would require policymakers and the industry to bring in a wide range of reforms, and reimagine roles and responsibilities in society.
