A few gems scattered across Tokyo. We found time to stop by these free locations to appreciate some design and architecture. It’s a nice way to slow down and catch a break from the busyness that is shibuya. I know the last recc is a little random, but this one is a personal favourite- work by architect Miles Pennington in collab with the University of Tokyo’s design team as part of Tokyos iconic THE TOKYO TOILET project. It works to complement the Musashino Place library that sits directly opposite it~ with a very similar facade. ⚪️⚪️⚪️ I love spots.

So impressed by @withbrandonn`s original work that I just had to share. Thank you for your creativity! went to a couple coffee shops in tokyo but these two were my absolute favorite: 📍 @nadoya.katte // beautiful vibes/atmosphere. they serve glitch coffee, and if you’ve had beans from glitch you know it’s good (you can actually taste distinct flavor notes). i could stay here for hours. this might be my favorite coffee shop… 📍 @rawsugar_roast // when i first walked into the store, i smelled an amazing scent of coffee (different than a typical coffee shop). very friendly baristas that were patient in explaining and had great conversations with. delicious coffee and you can tell they care about where they source beans from give these both a try next time when you’re in tokyo! #japan #tokyo #tokyocoffeeshop #coffeeshop

The Kyu Asakura House, located in Tokyo, was once the mansion of Torajiro Asakura, a former chairman of the Tokyo Prefectural Assembly. Built in 1919, this historic residence allows visitors to experience traditional Japanese architecture from the Taisho era. The interior features wooden and tatami flooring, a tiled roof, and clapboard exterior walls—characteristic of residences built around the Meji Period. Through the windows, you can admire the circular garden, which offers a lushy green view. Visitors can also take a stroll through the Japanese garden and appreciate its beautiful landscape. Tucked away from the busy streets of the city, the Kyu Asakura House is a hidden gem. With an admission fee of just 100 yen, you can escape the hustle and immerse yourself in the tranquil beauty of this historic mansion. You’ve just found the prettiest stationery shop in Tokyo 📚 You guys probably know this by now but I am a HUGE stationery fan which also led me to launch my own brand 5 years ago (hello @paperandcities ❤️) so every time I travel, I am always on the hunt for new stationery items to bring back with me and that’s how I found this super cute stationery store in Tokyo called Traveler’s Factory. They have a few locations around the city but this specific shop in Meguro is just an absolute hidden gem! It’s super small so you might have to be patient to come in as they only let a handful of people inside at once but I am telling you it’s absolutely worth it! Fun fact, I actually first found out about this brand a couple of years ago while in New York while a local stationery shop was selling some of their notebooks. I bought a few of them that time and loved them ever since! So definitely make sure to add to this spot on your Tokyo Bucket List! . 📍: Traveler’s Factory, 3 Chome-13-10 Kamimeguro, Meguro City, Tokyo 153-0051, Japan.

アクセスや価格など詳細は💬へ **** A 70-year-old tea room—a space in Tokyo that feels nothing like Tokyo. — @tokyoretreat_cafe.trip 👈 Join me on a journey to explore soothing retreat cafes in the suburbs of Tokyo ☕️ — 📍Kosoan I visited a gallery-meets-Wa café in Tokyo, set inside a beautifully renovated old residence. Just a short walk from Jiyugaoka Station, past a mix of residential buildings and small shops, you’ll spot one house that quietly stands out with a distinct, almost mysterious presence. Originally built about 70 years ago as a tea room and private home, it now serves as a tea house café with a gallery space. Once seated in the traditional tatami room, you’re treated to a view of a serene Japanese garden through large windows. It’s a small garden, but its scale only adds to the authentic, peaceful atmosphere. Sipping matcha in this quiet space feels like being instantly released from the chaos of everyday life. Highly recommended for those who love matcha or just want to take a calm step away from the usual pace.
