There are thousands of great books, but you don’t have to read a thousand books to become politically educated. I have seen so many curriculums come out over the years, and they are just long reading lists. It’s too much. I look at those reading lists and I’m like, “Nah, that’s never going to happen.” I think most people do the same, and that is a shame, because we lose people who were otherwise ready. This is also why I don’t suggest the whole book for several books. In college they give you “readers,” which are smaller parts of books and articles. It is more digestible. Maybe I’ll make a proper reader some day. These are all books that had a profound impact on me at different stages of my life. There are plenty of other books, maybe better books, but if a friend asked me, “where should i start?” this is the course of study I would suggest, and the order in which I would suggest it. The order is important, because i have seen too many people recommend heavy theory for beginners and we lose them. This is really a beginner’s reading list. For those familiar with my “4 common phases of political evolution” post from 7/10, this reading list, plus my own life experiences, is what I would say most clearly gave me a view of the world that took me from “that’s sad” and “that’s f*cked up,” through to “f*ck this sh!t!” and to “How do we get free?” This list only lightly starts answering the question of how to get free. It is more to help people see their world more clearly. I am personally, after years of trying to figure out how to get free, starting a new era of reading other books which I will share when I am ready. “Confessions of an economic hit man,” is the weakest book on this list, but it helped me see the larger historical and financial system. The writing is a bit unbelievable and egotistical at times, but the concepts are important nonetheless, imo. Video in title slide is from the movie Malcolm X. This was the moment when Malcolm sees the power of reading. If you watch the film, just remember that Denzel is not actually Malcolm X, lol, yall some people really confused. #freepalestine #gazaunderattack #gaza #fromtherivertothesea #endtheoccupation

I am fighting for a world where community organizers, artists, educators, and land protectors are cherished and have abundance, instead of asset and property owners, land developers, CEOs, politicians, and presidents. They need us. We do not need them.
