PRAYER
Lord, my God, Light of the blind and Strength of
the weak; indeed, also, Light of those who see, and
Strength of the strong: listen to my soul, and hear it
crying out of the depths. Lord, help us to turn and
seek you, for you have not forsaken your creatures the
way we have forsaken you, our Creator. Let us turn
and seek you, for we know you are he... See more

Come to the Temple
Come to your Temple here with liberation
And overturn these tables of exchange
Restore in me my lost imagination
Begin in me for good, the pure change.
Come as you came, an infant with your mother,
That innocence may cleanse and claim this ground
Come as you came, a boy who sought his father
With questions asked and certain answers found... See more

“Why
do you think Jesus tells us to pray
for daily bread? Why not monthly or
yearly bread?” It was an interesting
question I had not considered. As I
thought, a young woman flanked by
fussy toddlers on her chest and back
replied, “Because if God gave me food
for more than a day, I would not talk
to him.”

PRAYER
O God, give your judgment to the rulers,
to those who rule after them, your justice,
that they may judge your people in justice,
and your poor in right judgment.
May the mountains bring forth shalom for the people,
and the hills justice.
May they defend the poor of the people,
and save the children of the needy,
and crush the oppressor.

PRAYER
O God our deliverer,
you cast down the mighty,
and lift up those of no account:
as Elizabeth and Mary embraced
with songs of liberation,
so may we also be pregnant with your Spirit,
and affirm one another in hope for the world,
through Jesus Christ, Amen.

This Teaching Clip made me think of you. Watch Matthew 6:11 by Jerry Flowers:
Matthew 6:11
Jesus echoes Israel’s exodus for our daily prayer - God will provide, not pharaoh, trust him.
Matthew 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread
Kindle the flint, the tinder
Liven the hearth, the stone
Shelter the dying lantern light
Gladden the shadowed home
Into this wilderness of shadows
Come, Light original
Answer our famine yearning
Nourish our blighted fields
Raise all our fallen storehouses
Leaven the bitter yield
Into this emptiness, this hunger
Come, Bread all-bountiful
Loosen the cloaks of jo

Is it to fast an hour, Or ragged go, Or show A downcast look, and sour? No: ’tis a fast, to dole Thy sheaf of wheat, And meat, Unto the hungry soul. It is to fast from st... See more

Loving God, our hearts are heavy with
the sufferings of this world. We remember the many
victims of political power and greed:
•
the innocent killed in war and violence;
•
all those who are tortured or put to death;
•
those who languish in prison and camps;
•
those missing or trafficked;
•
all whose lot your Son shared by being born when
Herod was king.
