read section titles, first lines, the last paragraph, study questions + summaries. Ask yourself what the main point is and what you already know? What question is on your mind?
Read Actively:
Don’t highlight/take notes until you’ve finished a short section or paragraph. When finished, highlight a phrase or two to tell you what the paragraph is about. Go to the margins and ask a question to test yourself later.
Review:
At the end of a 10-page chunk or chapter, summarize what you read then make broad observations about how it connects to other things. Answer questions in margins.
