Archives As Anchors

Collecting and archiving are ways to reclaim and own our attention—they are acts of meaning-making. These practices are rituals: habits and skills that demand time, patience, and a willingness to look beyond the surface.

I think this is because our genuine thoughts (and interests) are more detailed and alive than the simulations we have of what we should say (or be interested in). When we think no one listens, we relax into the genuine.

What I write alongside them is just a way of reminding people that there’s someone behind the site. Someone spending hours listening, collecting, digging through folders, thinking about flow, transitions, the shape of a listening experience. Someone preparing it for others, with care.
