our internet is bad for mental health. everyone feels this but, individuated, we comply for fear of retribution.
the practices that gave our lives purpose and meaning have been all but obliterated in search of attention
here is what i want to see: a social media where the only public sharing is Quests. no news feed, no permashare, no global microphone rammed down your throat - just Quests. direct. relational. collaboration. maximize for ease of catalyzing focused, collective action…

My default feed on Twitter is filled with too much snark, fear porn, and negativity. Is that a reflection of me, all of you, or a business trying to make ever increasing amounts of revenue with this product? I would literally pay for a more positive experience. And I think it… Show more

My new social media will be a giant shared Google doc to which I will add all the cool people as "editors," and there will be no ads, and no algorithm, and you can type into the doc at the same time with whatever dang font you want, and the party in that doc will NEVER END.

so @julesterpak articulated this on her tiktok (linked below) Social media's positivity/toxicity is inherently about user intent. There's a huge difference between: a) posting to get a reaction b) archiving a memory that you're comfortable sharing b) is far healthier

the new digital city, if we are to have one, will need to be carefully designed. properly, and for scale. and with designs that fix the mistakes of previous cities and past bad designs. all the harmful things should be accounted for in digital cities we are re-creating life here
