My protectors take the form of anxiety-inducing distractions. Isn’t it scary how you don’t feel real right now? Don’t you think you should wrap it up because no one wants to deal with you? These thoughts are topics that I could worry about endlessly. And that is by design - they are meant to distract me from the pain indefinitely.
