David Milne, Edge of the City (1915)
“If I’m allowed to pick my own heaven, this is it.”
Mark Rothko, 1959
“I’m interested only in expressing basic human emotions - tragedy, ecstasy, doom. If you’re only moved by colour relationships, you miss the point.”
Norman McLaren, Pas de Deux (1968)
“My militant philosophy is this: to make with a brush on canvas a simple and direct delight.”
Gene Davis, Yellow Jacket (1969)
Take the time to observe and strip away. Work with a few simple and distilled colours, lines, spaces of influence and watch how it transforms the medium. Was reminded of the power of mosaic looking at this piece.
Kazuo Nakamura, Blue Reflections (1962)
Bill Nasogaluak, Shaman (2010).
“Pour moi, être un artistique c'est interpréter ses sentiments et s'exprimer de manière créative.”
Natalka Husar. Torn Heart, 1994.
Alex Colville, “Elm Tree at Horton Landing” (1956)
Sarindar Dhaliwal, Punjabi Sheets #3: Birbansian, 1953
“… death brings with it a busying of life.”
