Slide components (Schwintek gear, rack and pinion etc) should be lubricated with a good silicone spray.

Some newer heaters just have a drain. If you have an anode – it’s a good time to see how deteriorated it is. The anode’s purpose is sacrificial. It’s made of a more reactive material to keep the water from attacking the metal in the heater. Get a new one – made from Magnesium – not Aluminum. As the anode works, metal is dissolved into your water. A

There are a couple of equations that are useful to understand. The first is Current (amps) is equal to Voltage (volts) divided by Resistance (ohms). Or I=V/R. So, for this circuit, if the battery is 12V and the bulb resistance (hot) is 24 ohms, the current would be 0.5 amp. I said hot for the bulb because in an incandescent bulb the resistance incr

A more accurate way to measure battery capacity and activity is to install a “real battery monitor”. These units use a shunt (very low resistance bar) to measure the actual current going into and out from the battery. You charge the batteries up full. Then tell the monitor what the amp-hour capacity of the battery is and the meter tracks in and out
