Your RV is Broken: Things that go Bump on the Road, made a bit easier.

I’ve found slide seals to be one source for bugs to enter the RV. I’ve found carefully adding a bit of stiff foam in the corners (such that it doesn’t get in the way of movement or closing) helps seal out the mosquitos and flies.

A more accurate way to measure battery capacity and activity is to install a “real battery monitor”. These units use a shunt (very low resistance bar) to measure the actual current going into and out from the battery. You charge the batteries up full. Then tell the monitor what the amp-hour capacity of the battery is and the meter tracks in and out

Slide seals should be inspected every month or so as well as lubricated with a good slide seal lube. Don’t lubricate your seals by spraying stuff all over. I fold up a paper towel to a 2x2 inch square. Then spray the lubricant on that and wipe the seal, inside and out of the seal.

So, what’s this AC DC thing? Direct Current is what you get out of a battery. 12 volts continuous. Alternating current is what we use at home. The voltage cycles in a sine wave from plus to minus, 60 times a second. AC is used for large distribution systems because it is easy to convert from one voltage to another using transformers. DC is much eas
