When we lived in Silicon Valley, I asked an elementary school teacher what were the most important things parents didn't understand. This was number one.

Whatever happened to fostering virtues––integrity, courage, gratitude, temperance––instead of fostering achievements? Those virtues can lead to great achievements, but it's kinda bad parenting to just be focused on the latter.
